Akiyoshi Kitaoka is a master of optical art. He studies geometric, light, motion visual illusions and incorporates his knowledge into his art to create startling results.He is very successful at what he does and considerably famous in Japan, his home-country.
At 23, he recieved his bachelor of biology degree, and after moving to the University of Tsukaba, he obtained a Ph.D in neurosceince in 1991; six years later. Aswell as gaining the status of Associate Professor of Psychology at the College of Letters, in Ritsumeikan University, he has had many of his works published in books (including "Trick Eyes" and "Trick Eyes II") which are available for purchase online and in several Japanese bookshops.
Kitaoka sees himself as a "self-styled" optical illusion artist, and strives to perfect his pieces to the point that a"good optical figure" which according to him is simply beautiful
